Rail roughness measuring device m|rail
m|rail enables safe and rapid measurement of rail roughness, even during regular rail operation.
The normative determination of rail roughness is particularly relevant when carrying out acoustic acceptance measurements on rail vehicles, in order to ensure comparable conditions at various measurement locations. Müller-BBM developed m|rail and optimised it for this use. A wealth of experience from a multitude of measurement campaigns and research work using the forerunners RM1200E and mbbmRM1200 was poured into the design of the device.
Typical areas of application of m|rail are:
- Normative qualification of a track section for acoustic acceptance measurements (EN ISO 3095, TSI Noise Conventional Rail/High Speed, EN 15610, EN ISO 3381)
- Observation of the evolution of rail roughness (e.g. after rail grinding)
- Determining input data for acoustic simulations
- Research work
